Meet Our Pastor
Dr. Morgan Woodard
Dr. Morgan Woodard has been the Senior Pastor of GBC since February 2009. He has a passion for the rural community and helping believers follow Jesus in their everyday lives. Since his arrival, Morgan met the love of his life, Camilla Woodard, and they were married at our church in November 2013. Morgan and Camilla love GBC and consider this a blessed place to call home.
Morgan graduated with his B.A. in Christian Ministries from William’s Baptist University in 2004. He arrived in Waco later that same year and finished up his Masters of Divinity at George W. Truett Theological Seminary in 2008. During his time at our church, he went back to Truett and attained his Doctor of Ministry from Baylor University in 2017. He and Camilla began their greatest journey with the birth of their first daughter, Lillie Mae Woodard, in May 2018. They recently welcomed their second daughter, Evelyn Rose Woodard, in June 2020. They are wonderful blessings to her parents and our church.
Morgan spends most of his free time hanging out with his family, but occasionally you’ll find him playing boardgames, drinking local coffee, running the River Trail, or hiking in Cameron Park.
Hayden Swearengin
Youth Director
Hayden is from Glen Rose and moved to Waco in 2015. He graduated from Baylor in 2018 with a B.A. in Religion. Currently, Hayden works at Common Grounds while attending graduate school at Dallas Baptist University to obtain a masters degree in Christian counseling. He enjoys working with coffee and working alongside different local businesses. His dream is to bring the community that the local church cultivates through Christ into these businesses and spread the Gospel; he is passionate about local missions.
Stanley Birkes
Music Minister
Stanley is a long-time member of our church family and operates a small farm with his wife, Shawna, near Satin, TX. Although he is a man of few words, when he speaks, he always has something hilarious to say. He is one of our deacons, has a servant’s heart, and a wonderful sense of humor. Stanley is a second-generation music leader, filling the rather sizable shoes left behind by his father, Dennis Birkes, who led worship at our church for many years. He loves riding his horse, working on his farm, and spending time with his family.
Kaye Mackie
Business Administrator
Kaye has faithfully served as business administrator for over 12 years. She retired in 2016 and now has the opportunity to spend more time with her husband, sharing in opportunities to work their land and cattle. She most enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and sewing.
Sondra deGraffenreid
Church Pianist
Sondra leads worship every Sunday morning with her talents on the piano. In addition to leading music with Stanley, she also serves with Meals on Wheels, on the Homebound Team, and by leading a women’s Bible study. When she’s not hard at work, Sondra loves taking classes at Baylor, reading good books, and taking her grandkids to watch the latest Marvel movies. Her favorite superhero is Captain America!

Our Deacons faithfully lead our church through their service. These men give up considerable hours during their week to set up events, visit homebound church members, and help lead during our worship services
